After a series of demanding tests conducted within the framework of the National Antarctic Research Program (PNRA), ENEA has approved the new Antarctica equipment consisting of a jacket, pants, gloves and boots of new design that will protect scientists, researchers and technicians from temperatures that can reach up to -89°C.
The new equipment has satisfied ENEA's requirements in terms of weather protection, ergonomics, ease of use and has introduced an innovative heating system for the extremities. A first batch of 80 winter suits has therefore been ordered by ENEA to be used operationally during PNRA missions that will take place in 2025. The development of additional versions of the equipment is planned for the summer season and for the personnel of the Zucchelli Station on the Antarctic coast.
