LAYERING GUIDE: LAYERS FOR EVERY ADVENTURE

From Antarctica to city streets, layering isn’t just about technical clothing — it’s a philosophy born from extreme experience and translated into everyday comfort. At 75°06'S, we know this well, thanks to our Antarctic background.

Why It Works

You dress in layers to meet three essential needs: regulating body temperature in changing climates, managing moisture by wicking sweat away from the skin, and protecting against external elements like wind, rain, and snow. It’s not a passing trend, but a smart strategy tested in the most extreme environments on the planet.

The Three Essential Layers — Layering 101

First Layer: The Base Layer

The base layer is your second skin — the foundation of the entire system.
Our 123°20’ Dryarn base layers (long-sleeve top, pants, and neckwarmer) and 123°20’ undergloves represent excellence in moisture management.
This innovative material offers superior thermoregulation, dries quickly, and keeps your skin dry even during intense activity.

Second Layer: The Mid Layer

The mid layer provides thermal insulation while maintaining breathability.
75°06’S midlayers are windproof and water-resistant — perfect allies in uncertain weather, while fulfilling their main role: trapping body heat.
The key is versatility: on cold days, it’s essential; on mild ones, it can stay in your pack. During a demanding hike, you might remove your outer shell and continue with just your base and mid layer to avoid overheating. Even if you don’t plan to wear it, always bring it along — in an emergency, it can make all the difference.

Third Layer: The Outer Layer (Shell)

Our shell jackets and pants are high-performance barriers against the elements.
Made with waterproof and breathable membranes, they ensure total protection from external moisture while allowing body vapor to escape efficiently during activity.
We offer several models because there’s no single perfect solution — your choice depends on weather conditions, activity intensity, and the level of protection required.
Keep in mind: the shell layer is the least breathable — during intense activity or mild weather, don’t hesitate to take it off. Vests are also ideal companions for transitional seasons.

Our outer layers use advanced technologies such as Antarticsphere™ and DomeAir®.

Details That Make the Difference

Your extremities are especially vulnerable to cold.
Our 123°20’ undergloves provide thermal protection — perfect on their own in milder conditions, or as a base layer under heavier gloves, such as our Ross Moufle, when temperatures drop.

From Antarctica to Everyday Life

The same technology that protects researchers at 75°06'S can be part of your daily life.
Our approach combines innovation, environmental respect, and Italian design: each garment is versatile, high-performing, and sustainable.

Protect yourself. Protect Nature. Two actions, one principle.
