DomeAir®: FROM ANTARCTICA TO EVERYDAY LIFE

An extraordinary origin

It all began with the Antarctica project and the development of innovative solutions to support researchers in the frozen expanses of Antarctica. What was once a necessity for survival in extreme conditions has found a new dimension in everyday clothing, allowing us to develop DomeAir® technology dedicated to outdoor clothing: lighter but equally high-performance garments, designed to excel in both extreme and everyday challenges.

The Antarctic Suit has proven to be extraordinarily effective in regulating temperature, ventilation, and breathability even in the most adverse conditions. Faced with these results, a question arose spontaneously: “What if this technology could preserve human life even beyond the changing boundaries of Antarctica?”

This insight gave rise to 75°06' S – the transformation of an extreme necessity into a solution for everyday life.

DomeAir® characteristics  

The technology is characterized by a perforated padding structure that creates a network of domes in which air is stored, maximizing insulation and breathability, reducing product weight and avoiding material waste.

 Exceptional breathability  

Lightweight and breathable. One of DomeAir®'s most innovative characteristics lies in its exceptional breathability. Thanks to its unique configuration, this material allows high-performance membranes and fabrics to be enhanced, which would otherwise be "suffocated" by traditional padding.

Scientific tests speak for themselves: DomeAir®'s RET (Resistance to Evaporative Heat Transfer) value is is up to six times better than traditional paddings. The lower the RET value, the better the breathability.

Revolutionary lightness and compressibility  

Less is more. Although the specific weight of synthetic material is normally higher than that of natural down, DomeAir® completely overturns this equation thanks to its innovative structure. The technology is based on perforated padding that creates a network of domes where air is stored, drastically reducing the overall weight of the finished product and eliminating material waste.

The advantages are tangible: at the same weight as traditional padding, DomeAir® offers half the thickness (2:1 ratio), while maintaining the "soft touch" characteristic that makes the garment pleasant to the touch.

Intelligent thermoregulation  

Comfort and warmth. DomeAir®'s thermoregulating capacity has been certified through rigorous testing. Compared to other materials, DomeAir® maintains a more stable temperature (after 30 minutes, heat loss is in fact lower). This suggests that it has a better ability to retain heat over time compared to other padding. Its dome structure, in fact, in addition to insulation, optimizes air management and reduces heat dispersion, leading to a perception of greater thermal comfort.

DomeAir® is more efficient at maintaining actual body heat; therefore, more performant in dynamic use conditions.

Extreme performance. The synthetic padding used for DomeAir® is naturally hydrophobic. Its surface structure, characterized by continuous and discontinuous filaments, facilitates drying and maintains its insulating properties even in the presence of moisture.

Synthetic materials have low resistance to evaporation, effectively wicking away evaporative heat generated by the body and keeping the garment always dry. This characteristic makes them ideal for dynamic activities in cold and humid conditions.

Moisture resistance is exceptional: even in extreme conditions (ambient temperature of 20°C and 100% relative humidity), DomeAir® absorbs less than 1% of external moisture.
